The newly elected chairman of the Ondo State Football Association (FA), Otunba Dele Ajayi, has vowed not to re-contest after serving out his four -year term.

Ajayi added that he is gradually retiring from football administration.

“From now on, I’m retiring as chairman of the Akure North Football Council. So, if you are interested, you can come and contest for the position in the next four years”, Dele – Ajayi said.

The Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation, stated this in a chat with newsmen after he was declared the winner of the election held at the Police Officers’ Mess in Akure, the state capital.

He said: “Immediately after the NFF election next year, I will call it quits because my family wants me in America.

” They want me to come and rest. I have worked, and I have made money. It’s time for me to enjoy my money.”

Ajayi promised to prioritise the discovery and development of young talents in this new administration, noting that football is a lucrative business for those who understand it.

“If not for the fact that I’m getting old, I would have ventured into the football business. I would have founded an academy.”

“Here in Ondo State, we are not doing anything except fighting over the FA election every three years.”

“It’s not that we lack ideas, but our greatest challenge in Ondo State is the absence of industries that can sponsor us.

” If you approach any office here, they will ask you to go to Lagos or Abuja, where their headquarters are located.”
