Dependants of fallen heroes deserve better welfare –Akeredolu, Ojo

Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC)  Worldwide, Pastor (Dr) Henry Ojo, have commended the departed soldiers who paid the supreme price for the peace and unity of the country.

The duo gave the commendation yesterday at the Year 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations held at the Christ Apostolic Church Districts’ Headquarters, Oke-Isegun, Akure.

They equally called on all to give support for the widows, children and other dependants of the departed heroes.

Governor Akeredolu who was represented by his deputy, Agboola Ajayi explained that nothing is too much to give to the families of the fallen heroes to improve their welfare, going by the roles they played at ensuring peace and unity of the country.

He stressed that his administration would continue to do its best to improve the welfare of the widows and children of the great heroes who paid the supreme prize to keep Nigeria one.

The governor also used the occasion to appeal to all Nigerians to avoid utterances that could put the country apart, but always contribute their quotas to the peace and unity of Nigeria.

Earlier, the President of CAC worldwide, Pastor Henry Ojo, in his sermon titled, “Time to Remember”, said it is good to remember the great heroes who paid the supreme prise for the peace and unity of the country, saying that the country appreciated their patriotism and loyalty to the task of keeping the country one.

Pastor Ojo particularly appealed to government at all levels and well-meaning individuals to assist the widows, children and other dependants of the departed heroes.

He equally applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts at checking terrorist activities in the country and urged  him to do more for the safety and security of lives.

He admonished politicians to shun any action that could destabilise the peace and unity of the country.

Also, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Titi Adeyemi, lauded governor Akeredolu for his constant assistance to the dependants of the departed soldiers.

According to her,  the present administration has put in place various initiatives to make lives more comfortable for the families of the fallen heroes.

The Commissioner further added that a special programme would be put in place this year to further assist the widows, children and other dependants of the departed heroes.

The event had in attendance, both serving and retired military personnel, heads of security and paramilitary agencies in the state, some members of the state Executive Council, Ondo State Judiciary officers led by the State Chief Judge, Justice Olutoyin Akeredolu, among others.
