Diaspora community ready for Ondo SMART City project

The Ondo State Youths in Diaspora (OSYID), United Kingdom, has declared its readiness to support the Ondo SMART City project, calling for its early commencement.
The group also reaffirmed its confidence in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and commitment to delivering on his mandate over the next four years.
In a congratulatory message to Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, OSYID’s Coordinator, Amb. Gbenga Olukayode, popularly known as Don Pedro, described their inauguration on 24 February as a significant step towards progress.
The CEO/Founder of Don Pedro Humanity Foundation urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to accelerate the implementation of the Ondo SMART City project, which is under the supervision of the former Commissioner for Regional Planning and Diaspora, Boye Ologbese.
OSYID emphasised that an early take-off would attract foreign investors and provide opportunities to harness the potential of Ondo indigenes worldwide, a cause that Ologbese has been actively championing.
The group commended the governor for initiating the ambitious project, noting that it would encourage Ondo indigenes in the Diaspora to invest in the state.
“The OSYID UK Chapter is always ready and willing to collaborate with the Aiyedatiwa/Adelami administration in achieving the EASE Agenda, ensuring that all citizens and residents of Ondo enjoy a comfortable and prosperous life,” the statement read.
Don Pedro also expressed gratitude to God for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 16 November 2024 gubernatorial election, describing the landslide win as divinely orchestrated.
Furthermore, he congratulated all political appointees, with special mention of Mrs Seun Osamaya, the newly appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, among others.
He urged the appointees to remain committed and dedicated to their responsibilities, stressing that they represent the beacon of hope for the successful implementation of the Aiyedatiwa administration’s EASE Agenda.
