Digital Card: ODSG allays workers’ fear

The Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on ICT & the Chairman of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) Mr Olumbe Akinkugbe says the ongoing digital identity card project is to upgraded the state civil service database and not a verification exercise as being widely rumoured in some quarters.

Akinkugbe according to release signed by the HOD Media and Publicity of the agency, Sola Obagbemisoye while allaying the fear of the state civil servants explains that, upgrading of data is a regular and normal routine in digital cycle.

According to him, the objective of the project is to produce a uniform, unique and multipurpose ID cards that will contain vital information about owner in a single chip for easy access of information.

“The card which is at no cost to workers is part of modest efforts by this administration to run governance through ICT and by extension entrench the culture of digital application within the service ” said Akinkugbe.

The SSA who reiterates government’s commitment to the welfare of the state workforce concludes that, the only two major documents required at the point of photo capturing are first appointment & last promotion letters while other documents are to be verified & attested to by the accounting officers of various MDAs for hitch-free exercise.
