Full operations will commence at the Uso Digital Village in two weeks, The Hope can reveal.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State and Chairman of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), Mr Olumbe Akinkugbe disclosed this during an interview with The Hope.

He further revealed that training has begun at the Ondo Centre while that of Uso Centre will begin in two weeks.

Investigations by our correspondents revealed that many youths have started besieging the two centres to update themselves with the facilities at the village with the hope of benefitting from the scheme.

The Oloba of Uso, Oba Ademola Oyinbade said his community would continue to savour the privilege offered by the location of the village in his domain.

Oba Oyinbade told The Hope that his community and the people will forever be grateful to the Akeredolu administration for the gesture, adding that “We are eager and enthusiastic for the take off of the village.”

The Oloba called on the youth to avail themselves of the opportunities offered by the digital villages when they begin operation.

Governor Akeredolu had last week Thursday commissioned the Digital Village project with an assurance that it would reduce rural-urban migration as well as unemployment among youths.

The project which is in partnership with America Tower Corporation with graduates and non graduates as its main beneficiaries, was aimed at providing different ICT based services to the public through computer connected with internet, cameras, printers among other communication infrastructures.

Uso and Ondo in Ondo West Local Government Area of the state were selected as pilot centres for the project which will be established in all the 18 council areas of the state.

A visit to the Uso digital village project revealed a well equipped fully air-conditioned centre with computers connected to the internet, CCTV cameras, security lights chairs and tables, First Aid Box among others.

The availability of the necessary facilities is preparatory for the commencement of serious operation at the centre.
