The direct primary election adopted by the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been described as the best for democracy in Nigeria.

Oladiji noted that the direct primary election is the best because it empowers people to decide on behalf of their local governments.

The Speaker who expressed joy over the primary election, said it went well as the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa won in Ward 3, Bolorunduro.

He said some members voted for other aspirants but Aiyedatiwa came out victorious in the exercises.

On his part, Makinde said the direct primary is the first of its kind, adding that over a long period, the party has been engaging in indirect primaries.

According to him, the direct primary involves the people in the party, saying this is democracy at its best and it was obvious that Governor Aiyedatiwa won massively.

He, however, advised party members and other aspirants who could not clinch the party’s ticket to come together to face the opposition parties in the forthcoming election.

Makinde said the primary election went well in Ondo West and voters came out in their numbers to vote.

The primary election in Ondo City witnessed a large turnout of voters as most wards monitored were filled with voters anxious to cast their ballots for their preferred candidates.
