Disregard misinformation on LG polls– PDP Chair

From Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has urged stakeholders, particularly the citizens, to disregard the opposition’s misleading claims regarding the recent Appeal Court ruling which dismissed their attempt to stop the upcoming local government elections.

In a statement issued in Osogbo, Sunday Bisi, the state PDP Chairman, expressed concern over the opposition party’s continued legal challenges aimed at halting the February 27 elections.

He stated that all previous efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prevent the elections had failed.

The APC had filed a lawsuit challenging the annulment of the controversial local government elections conducted during the tenure of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola. Bisi, addressing the discontent displayed by the APC following the dismissal of their appeal, urged the public to ignore the opposition’s claims and focus on the ongoing development in the state.

Reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to the election, Bisi said, “We want to assure the people of the state that the local government election the APC is desperately plotting to stop will hold.”

He emphasized that the election would provide much-needed local government representation, which would complement the efforts of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

He further praised Governor Adeleke for his leadership, noting that he had prioritised the completion of projects left unfinished by his predecessor due to political conflict.

According to Bisi, Governor Adeleke’s administration had ensured continuity by retaining the same contractors who were engaged in those projects.

Bisi concluded by addressing the ongoing and potential lawsuits by the APC to stop the election, assuring the public that these efforts would meet the same fate as the previous ones.
