DJ docked for beating Amotekun officer

A disc jockey (DJ), Ebenezer Ogunlowo, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court, for allegedly assaulting a personnel of the Amotekun Corps.

He allegedly committed the offence on February 1, 2024 at about 1am at Isikan area in Akure.

The state counsel, O.F. Akeredolu told the court that the defendant assaulted one Ayodele Akinkola, an Amotekun officer in uniform at night while performing his lawful duty and caused him greivious injury all over his body.

The prosecutor further said that the defendant was seen driving a motorcycle at night during prohibited time.

“When the defendant was stopped for driving a motorcycle at night, he resisted arrest and beat one of the officers on duty to a pulp and also damaged his Nokia phone worth N15,000.

“The defendant prevented officers from discharging their duty and the injured officer is still at the hospital receiving treatment,” the prosecutor said.

But Ogunlowo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defence counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 15, 2024.
