Dog seller arraigned for allegedly attacking mother-in-law with cutlass

A 35-year old dog seller, Busayo Adebisi, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attacking his mother-in-law, Glory Igwe, with a cutlass during a dispute.
The prosecutor, Inspector Folasade Adeyemi, told the court that the incident took place on January 9, 2025, at Agape Street, Oke-Aro, Akure, Ondo State. She alleged that Adebisi inflicted bodily harm on Glory Igwe by macheting her during an altercation.
Inspector Adeyemi noted that the alleged offence contravened Sections 282 and 355 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Adebisi, who was not represented by a lawyer, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor requested an adjournment, stating that she had just received the case file and needed time to prepare.
Magistrate Oladayo Omotoso granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned until February 27, 2025, for hearing.
