A  Professor of Literary Theory and Criticism at the University of Ibadan, Professor Nelson Olabanji  Fashina has   advocated the essence of exploring   more advanced devotion to  Africa’s  indigenous knowledge production system.

Fashina made   the call  in his  inaugural  lecture which was  well attended by  prominent personalities including the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, academia and members of the All Owo Progressive and Development Association.

The Professor who spoke on “Text, Grammatology and the Automation of Theories in (African )Lliterary  Discourse  observed that western scholarship had failed to realize that  Africa’s theory of art antidates their own knowledge.

He cautioned Nigerians not to deify   any of the presidential   candidates because they are human beings otherwise they would be guilty of prejudiced bigotry.

Fashina said he forayed into political discourse just to underscore the humanistic relevance of his discipline to socio political reality
