A Professor of Literary Theory and Criticism at the University of Ibadan, Professor Nelson Olabanji Fashina has advocated the essence of exploring more advanced devotion to Africa’s indigenous knowledge production system.
Fashina made the call in his inaugural lecture which was well attended by prominent personalities including the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, academia and members of the All Owo Progressive and Development Association.
The Professor who spoke on “Text, Grammatology and the Automation of Theories in (African )Lliterary Discourse observed that western scholarship had failed to realize that Africa’s theory of art antidates their own knowledge.
He cautioned Nigerians not to deify any of the presidential candidates because they are human beings otherwise they would be guilty of prejudiced bigotry.
Fashina said he forayed into political discourse just to underscore the humanistic relevance of his discipline to socio political reality
