Notable University administrators and community leaders across the nation as well as personalties from all walks of life will today converge at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, for the maiden edition of the matriculation ceremony of the Post-Graduate students of the institution.
According to a statement by the Dean, Post-graduate School of the institution, Prof. Rasaki Ojo-Bakare, the School of Post-graduate Studies took off in October 2017,six years after the institution began academic activities which was inspired by the need to get the university to offer post-graduate education.
He noted that the move was aimed at utilizing the institution’s huge manpower to the maximum level.
Bakare, who is the first Professor of Dance in Africa and former Artistic Director, Abuja Carnival, explained that the institution has gone far ahead of other universities that were created at the same time with it by the Federal Government.
Noting that the infrastructure, skills acquisition and academic standard of the institution are the best to reckon with in the comity of higher institutions in the country, he stressed that all these among other achievements prompted the university senate to take the decision to commence the post-graduate school.
The Don also disclosed that all academic programmes offered by the post-graduate school have been fully accredited by the National Universities Comission (NUC).
“We took off with 16 programmes in eight departments, both at Masters and Doctoral levels, but we have to wait until more of our programmes acquire full accreditation status. As soon as this is done, more departments will be enrolled into the post-graduate programmes.
“As we speak now ,we have 60 programmes across 30 departments in the school, both at the Masters and PhD levels. A few of the departments also offer post-graduate diploma programmes.” he stated.
The Dean explained further that the institution is ranked between 12th out of 96 universities in the country
“The height the university has attained is monumental and that is its selling point for the post-graduate school. We need a university that worth its onions, we need a university that is hungry for name and fame.
