As 2023/24 Nigeria Premier League Football NPFL draws nearer, the Management of Sunshine Stars/ Sunshine Queens has been charged not to reduce the barometer of performance of the teams.

The Chairman Board of Trustees of Sports Writers Association Nigeria (SWAN) Sir Steve Alabi stated this while receiving new executives of the Ondo State chapter of the association in his office.

The former National president of the association charged the state’s sports writers to set agenda for Sunshine stars, Sunshine Queens and other sporting activities to reposition sports for national and continental recognition in the state.

Alabi while congratulating the Segun Giwa led executives, charged the association to be focused and united for the growth of the association in the  state.

According to him, “I’m confident that Segun Giwa led executives will perform creditably.

“I will continue to support the SWAN in Ondo state to propagate sports related activities and fast track grassroots sports development in the state,” he said.

In his remark, the chairman sports writers association of Nigeria, Mr Segun Giwa thanked Alabi for his critical role at fostering peace and unity within members of the sports fraternity.

Giwa sought for more support while assuring that the association will continue to collaborate with major stakeholders in the sports industry to develop sports at the grassroots.

Members of SWAN in Ondo state present at the visit include Secretary, Joseph Adesuyan, Financial Secretary, Femi Atolagbe, Former caretaker chairman Ondo SWAN Femi Dairo, Former Chairman Ondo SWAN Wahab Bankole and veteran sports journalist and former chairman SWAN, Akintunde Akinsemola.
