The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has lauded the advice by its National Chairman, Mr. Uche Secondus on the need for its members seeking the party’s nod to contest the governorship elections in both Kogi and Bayelsa states against relying on godfathers to clinch the tickets.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Zadok Akintoye, who said this in an interview with The Hope explained that the advice cannot cause crisis within the party but boost the winning chances of the party in the two states.
Akintoye added that the advice was right just as he noted that the PDP is operating in line with democratic setting in which delegates have the right to determine who will emerge as the party’s candidates in the elections.
According to him, “PDP is a party with discipline which ensures all the procedures of producing its candidates are in line with its constitution.
” The advice by the our national chairman is right because we are in democratic setting in which the delegates have the right to determine who will emerge as the candidates of the party in the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States.
“I don’t think this can cause crisis within the leaders of the party,”
