The Ondo Obas made this known in a release signed by their Chairman, and Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Saliu Momoh after their monthly meeting

The release said the activities of Benin Electricity Distribution Company in the three senatorial district of the state in the recent times and from the reports available to them fell short of the hope and expectations of the consumers..

“All the efforts of people of the Southern Senatorial District and major stakeholders to make the BEDC see reason and shift ground on what seems to be its resolve that there is perpetual blackout in the area had proved abortive.

In the Northern Senatorial District, reports indicate that the BEDC only supply electricity to selected communities only when bills are to be served on consumers.

“The Ondo State Council of Obas therefore resolved to pass a vote of no confidence on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company. Ondo State Council of Obas hereby call on the Federal Government not to renew the license of operation of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.”
