Don’t tolerate indecent dressing, schools urged

From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo
Tertiary institutions have been urged to go tough on indecent dressing among students in order to reduce social vices.
An Educationist, Mr Dapo Olakinye gave the charge in Osogbo while decrying the rate of indecent dressing among students and youths.
Olakinye said some schools nowadays don’t care about how their students conduct themselves both in dressing and manner.
While lamenting the rate of thuggery, rapes and other related crimes among youths, he stressed the need for schools to advice their students and always frown at immoral acts among them.
Olakinye said most students, especially females, dress inappropriately stressing that the development results in rapes and sexual assaults.
“If you visit some tertiary institutions, you will think it is a club house as students dress immorally.
” Even some departments with dressing codes are nothing to be proud of as some ladies wear provocative skirts while their male counterparts zag their trousers.
Olakinye noted that if schools frown at inappropriate dressing, students would be forced to dress decently as this would reduce the rate of rape and exposure to crimes and attacks.
He equally enjoined parents and guardians to always ensure their children dress appropriately at home and check on them unannounced in school to know their lifestyles.
