Driver arraigned over reckless driving

A 35-year-old driver, Linus Amuku, has been dragged before an Ondo Magistrate Court for causing bodily injury to one Godwin Udoh, through dangerous driving.
The defendant, who was the driver of a Toyota Venza car with number plate: Lagos EKY 240 DU, was alleged of driving recklessly on the public highway at a high speed and in a manner which was dangerous to the public.
The police prosecutor, Mrs Omobola Bosede , said the accused vehicle also collided with president Haice bus with plate number: EPE 199 XP and caused damage to the said bus.
He was alleged to have committed the offence in July 23, 2019 at about 5pm at Igbado area Ondo/Ore road, Ondo, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under sections 18 of the traffic law cap 136 Vol. 3 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The prosecutor, told the court that he would be calling three witnesses to testify in the case, however applied for a date to enable him study the case file.
the defence counsel, Barrister O. O Adesanmi applied that the defendant be released to him, saying the application is not to abuse the court but because of the peculiar circumstance which is the fact that the defendant has no relative or friends within the jurisdiction.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni granted the application of the defence counsel and ordered him to produce the defendant whenever his needed in court.
He adjourned the case till December 18, 2019 for trial.
