Driver crushes okada rider to death in Akure

An unidentified Okada rider has been reportedly  crushed to death by a hit and run driver of a Honda EOD car.

The accident, occurred at NEPA roundabout in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The Hope Metro gathered that immediately after the incident, okada riders in the area went on rampage  and set the vehicle that caused the accident ablaze.

It was also learnt that the deceased Okada rider was drunk at that particular moment as he was said to have fallen directly in front of the upcoming vehicle on top speed.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the death and said the identity of the man was yet to be ascertained.

He added that the incident occurred late at night, and that before the arrival of the police, an angry mob had already burnt the vehicle.

He said there was no arrest and the remains of the Okada rider has been deposited at the mortuary.
