Driver docked for allegedly impersonating police officer

Alewu, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court, for alleged impersonation.

Alewu, whose address was not provided, is facing one count charge of impersonation.

The prosecutor, Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 12, at about 5:pm along Ore/Lagos expressway in Ondo State.

Akintimehin alleged that the defendant impersonated a police officer.

The charge reads,“That you, Samuel Alewu, ‘M’, sometime on October 12, 2024, at about 5:pm along Ore/Lagos expressway, Ondo State, in Ondo Magisterial District, unlawfully presented yourself to the policeman on duty, while on complete police uniform that you a police officer, while you were no longer in service.”

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 484 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Kolawole Aro granted him bail in the sum of N1million, with one surety in like sum.

Aro adjourned the case till November 14, for trial.
