An Osogbo Magistrates Court on Tuesday remanded a 30-year-old man, Sikiru Akintunde, in prison for allegedly assaulting an old woman.
The prosecution said the accused person committed the offence on February 17, 2019, at about 11:00pm, at Ita-Olokan area in Osogbo.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq told the court that the accused person while heavily drunk, lost control of himself and used a knife to inflict injuries on the head of the old woman, Simbiat Ajani who was sleeping at the corridor of her building.
Rasaq, said the incident led to the breach of public peace until the police intervened before the situation was brought under control.
The offence committed contravened sections 355 and 249(d) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11,laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused person, who is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of public peace pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
His lawyer Mr Okobie Najite, prayed the court to grant him bail in most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Ola Olagoke, overruled the oral bail application made by the lawyer for the accused counsel and ordered him to bring a formal bail application before the court.
He adjourned the matter till March 3 2019.
