Easter celebration: Osun Police assure citizens, travellers of safety

…Warn criminals against disrupting peace

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has assured residents and travellers of adequate security and protection of lives and property during the Easter celebration.

The command said it had continued to improve on the security architecture of the state before, during, and after the Easter festivities, warning those with criminal intentions to rethink or be prepared to face the full weight of the law.

This assurance was contained in a press statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday.

According to the statement, the command has intensified security operations ahead of the Easter celebration.

“We have mapped out adequate security arrangements to ensure that this year’s Easter season is celebrated peacefully and without fear,” the statement read.

“This announcement is to reassure the good people of the state of the readiness and high level of preparedness of the command to guarantee adequate and intensive security during the festive period and beyond.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba, psc, has ordered effective and extensive deployment of personnel and logistics to strategic points, including highways, worship centres, leisure parks, and all nooks and crannies of the state.”

The statement further warned miscreants, hoodlums and other criminal elements to steer clear, adding that the police would not condone any act capable of truncating the peace of the state, as anyone found culpable would face the full wrath of the law.

While congratulating Christians on the occasion of Easter, the Commissioner of Police appealed to members of the public to provide prompt and credible information that could help prevent crime and maintain law and order through the following Emergency Control Room numbers: 08039537995 and 08075872433.
