By Bukola Olamona

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has announced the deployment of 17 patrol vehicles and two tow trucks to ensure smooth movement during the Easter celebrations in the state.

Speaking during a media interaction on Thursday in Akure, the FRSC State Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, stated that five ambulances would also be on standby for rescue operations.

He added that approximately 700 officers and 200 special marshals would be deployed across the state to monitor traffic and caution drivers against excessive speed.

Dr. Ibitoye further explained that mobile courts would be set up for the instant adjudication of any traffic violators. He acknowledged the anticipated heavy vehicular movement during the festive season, noting that the corps was fully prepared to ensure the roads remain safe from accidents.

“As people celebrate Easter, many will be traveling to spend time with family and friends. We are committed to ensuring that the roads remain safe and free from crashes. Therefore, we are deploying 17 patrol vehicles, two tow trucks, and five ambulances for quick rescue operations. Our personnel will be actively engaged in monitoring and cautioning drivers against dangerous driving behaviours,” Dr. Ibitoye said.

The commander also urged drivers to exercise patience on the roads and adopt defensive driving techniques to reduce the risk of accidents.

“I implore all drivers not to assert their rights on the road but instead focus on defensive driving. This approach will help prevent crashes and contribute to safer roads in Ondo State and across Nigeria,” Dr. Ibitoye concluded.
