Easter: Oyetola urges Nigerians to show love

Osun State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has urged Nigerians to continue to live in peace and love in the spirit of the Easter celebration.
In a message to mark the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the triumph of life over death and darkness, Oyetola urged the people to take advantage of the opportunity presented by Easter to show love to fellow citizens, live in peace with neighbours and sacrifice for the betterment of the society.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Adeniyi Adesina, Oyetola enjoined Christians to emulate the virtues of humility, selflessness, tolerance and courage as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
He said: “The lessons learnt from the Lenten season which heralded the Easter Celebration should continue to radiate in the lives of Christians.
“Let us continue to be hopeful as we pray for continued peace, progress and unity of the country and the advancement of the State of Osun.
“I rejoice with our Christian brethren and wish all a Happy Easter Celebration”, he said.
Meanwhile, Oyetola has urged Christians to live worthy lives and put to practice the lessons of Easter.
The Governor gave the admonition during the Easter celebration service in Osogbo.
The service was organized by the Christian Workers Fellowship in the state.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Benedict Ajayi expressed delight to be in the presence of the faithful, noting that the essence of individuals is by providence.
He maintained that the season is not to wine and dine alone, but an occasion to ruminate on the reason for the death and rise of Jesus Christ and strive to be like him.
Oyetola who stated that the body of Christ is one maintained that what should remain intact is our unity in diversity.
He noted that unity is the most influential factor in solving cultural and social problems.
While appreciating the religious harmony being enjoyed in the state, the governor commended stakeholders, saying his administration will always strive to sustain the tempo.
In his sermon, Mr Kareem Ademola stressed the importance of Easter and what it portends in the lives of Christians.
He noted the life, death and resurrection of Christ as he urged Christians to imbibe the lessons of Easter in all ramifications.
