As the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State draws closer, the Ebira community has endorsed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as their preferred candidate.
Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State, who led the gathering on Saturday in Owo, spoke passionately on behalf of the Ebira community.
“We, the entire Ebira community across Ondo State, have resolved to support and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election,” he declared.
Ododo expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for running an inclusive government that prioritises youth empowerment.
“President Tinubu has given our youths the opportunity to participate actively in governance,” he remarked, acknowledging the President’s forward-thinking leadership.
He went on to pledge unwavering support for Governor Aiyedatiwa. “Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Ebira community stands with you; we are here in solidarity because we believe in continuity. Since the passing of the late Governor Akeredolu, you have upheld his legacies and continued the good work he started.”
Highlighting their trust in the governor, Ododo added, “You have been tested and trusted, and that is why we are 100% behind you. The Ebira people do not build only to destroy. We are solidly with you, and we will ensure victory come November 16.”
In his response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the community’s support and praised President Tinubu’s commitment to Ondo State’s economic development.
“President Tinubu has continuously shown interest in our state’s progress. Since his assumption of office, he has never wavered in his support,” Aiyedatiwa noted.
He also commended Governor Ododo for his exemplary leadership. “I appreciate the Kogi State Governor for managing his state with the strength of youth and the wisdom of elders,” Aiyedatiwa said.
Reflecting on the APC primary election in Ondo State, which Governor Ododo chaired, Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence in a fair and transparent electoral process.
“The primary election that made me the APC flag-bearer was free and fair under your chairmanship; I am certain that the main election will follow the same path.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his appreciation for the Ebira community’s solidarity and reassured them of inclusiveness in his administration.
“I promise to run an administration where everyone has a voice; together, we will continue to build a better Ondo State,” he added.
The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami, whose local government hosted the rally, thanked Governor Ododo for his support of Aiyedatiwa and the APC.
“Having left your state to mobilise your people for the success of our party in the forthcoming election, it is obvious that you truly love our party and my principal, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
“Today, you have shown commitment to the economic development of your people both at home and away; this is the quality of a good leader, and our administration shall not relent in recognising and including non-indigenes in decision-making in this state,” Adelami said.
