The General Manager, Ondo State Sports Council (OSSC), Mr Henry Omoyele Babatunde has said the state is going to participate in 23 Sports with 240 athletes and 49 Coaches at the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival.
Babatunde in a chat with Sporting Hope in Akure, added that other auxiliary staff who are going to assist the athletes in terms of welfare will also be part of the state contingent.
The former swimming veteran is optimistic the state will surpass the feat recorded at the 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja two years ago.
He said part of what they were doing to get it done is to motivate the athletes with incentives coupled with serious training.
“They have started their open training since last week, but in the next few days, they will resume for seven days close camping to ensure that we bring all of them together and to also have proper supervision.”
On the kits and equipment for the athletes, he said frantic efforts were being made to ensure necessary equipment are provided for them before camping.
