Edo 2020: Ondo assures athletes, officials better welfare package

As Ondo State athletes intensify more on training ahead of the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) slated for Edo State, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in the State , Mr Dotun Owanikin has assured them of a better welfare package.
The Commissioner in a chat with Sporting Hope said athletes and their officials’ arrears will be cleared before going to the Festival.
He added that the athletes have fully resumed training.
“We have held different meetings with them and their officials on our plans and why they should do whatever they could to make the state proud at the fiesta.”
He added “that the new General Manager, who is also a former athlete has been charged on the need to use his wealth of experience to improve the performance of our athletes in Edo 2020 National Sports Festival.”
He said “with the enthusiasm I saw during their training, I’m optimistic of good outing in Edo State.”
Sporting Hope can confirmed that athletes in all games have begun training; Wrestling, Table Tennis, Hockey, Handball, Football, Gymnastic, Karate and others were all seen at their training grounds at the State Sports Complex in Akure.
