Edo feud: Ondo APC calls for peace
By Jubril Bada
The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has called on the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to find a common ground in resolving the lingering crisis between the duo for the interest of the party ahead of the next year governorship election in the state
The State Director, Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Steve Otaloro made the call in a telephone interview with The Hope. saying that the crisis between the two leaders and their supporters, who are fueling the crisis called for concern.
Otaloro who noted the supporters of the two leaders as those behind the feud appealed to their supporters and members of the party in the state to come to a round table to resolve the issue and focus on how the party will emerge victorious in the next year gubernatorial election.
The issue, he said must be resolved otherwise it may degenerated to the loss of governorship seat by the party to the opposition
He urged the supporters of the duo to learn from the crisis faced by the Ondo State chapter before its governorship election in 2016 during which some group worked against the party before it was resolved as a result of intervention of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
According to him, ” Supporters of the APC in Edo State should learn from Ondo State over some members who were not in tandem with the party’s structure before 2016 governorship election. This was resolved as a result of focus and good intention of Governor Akeredolu”
Otaloro pointed out that the two leaders in Edo State had good intention and focus in ensuring the APC retains governorship seat in the next year election.
“The common interest is neither one of them want Edo State to be taken over by the opposition party. Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of our party, I’m very much aware that he does not want the situation whereby APC will lose the state to the opposition, likewise the Governor Obaseki who does not want to lose the second term”. he explained
He charged the APC in the state to put its house in order so that the feud between the Oshiomhole and Obaseki could be resolved and come to an end as soon as possible.
