Effect transformational changes, Ondo HoS tasks civil servants

Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele has stressed the need for civil servants to effect transformational changes in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs) in order to achieve improved project management and process management.

He spoke while declaring open a five day training which is organised by state government in collaboration with Aig – Imoukhuede foundation, for selected civil servants with the theme; “project management and process improvement” at the Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), Ilara-Mokin on Monday.

According to him, it is important that participants imbibe the culture of discipline of change and ensure the sustainability of positive attitudinal change, noting that they will drive the process of transformation that the state public service deserves.

While expressing appreciation to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the state for giving priority to welfare of public servants and also for initiating the training, he called for cooperation and sacrifice of participants in to achieve an improved service delivery.

He said that the work force owe the duty to ensure that effect of transformational changes begin with participants adding they should ensure that all divert sectors within the state are touched.

Ogundele who referred to participants as apostles of process improvement of the public service, admonished them to cascade the knowledge gained in their MDAs adding that they should enlighten others on process improvement.

He called on resource persons to provide participants with needed knowledge adding that participants should give them necessary support and cooperation for the improvement of the public service.

In his goodwill message, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Bunmi Alade thanked Ogundele for his support adding that participants must move with the telnet of ODSIP by having a better understanding of the theme for improved service delivery.

He called on them live up to expectation, give back to the society and also come up with a communique at the end of the exercise that will better the lot of the people.

Also speaking, Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Adenike Ogunsola, thanked Governor Akeredolu for putting in place the institute and stressed the replicate the training at the local government for sustainability in project management.

Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Tolu Adeyemi commended government for the exercise and implored that officers should partake in the exercise and also cascade it adding that it should be adopted in all personal outfit.

Permanent Secretary, Pension Commission, Mr. Oluwagbenga Akingbasote, commended the governor for being a motivation to many in the state and called on participants to be serious minded all through the exercise in order to deliver the dividend of democracy to the people.

In his remarks, Representative of Aig-Imoukhuede foundation, Mr Olaitan Oludare appreciate government for the partnership stating that “this shows the values placed on learning.”

He said that the training aimed at refreshing participants’ learning and aspiring knowledge for better performance.

He said that governments have capacity to drive change noting that Ondo State Government places value on knowledge acquisition for better equipment of officers to avoid failed projects saying “this will add value to state government and also residents.”

Speaking on ‘effective project management for public sector managers and teams’, the facilitator, Mr. Olaitan Oludare explained that training aimed at enhancing productivity in the workplace by promoting project management discipline.

According to him, it will enable participants understand the fundamentals of project management, appreciate the importance of project management to public service delivery and also understand project performance domains.
