Egbetakin becomes first Methodist Bishop of Owo Diocese

The Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdiocese of Igbobini has enthroned Dr Williams Egbetakin as the First Bishop of newly established Diocese of Owo.

The move was sequel to the inauguration of the Diocese of Owo with its Headquarters at Methodist Cathedral, Owo after it was carved out from Akure Diocese.

The inauguration of the Diocese and Enthronement of its First Bishop were performed by the Prelate of Methodist Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Ali Aba.

The church service for the ceremony was to formally ratify the decision of the biennial Conference of Methodist Church Nigeria that was held in August 2022 for the creation of Owo Diocese comprising Oke Owo, Ehin Ogbe, Epinmi Circuits and Ikare as well as Idoani Sections.

The creation of the Diocese was not without Enthronement of a Bishop, Right Rev. Dr. Williams Egbetakin and the Lay President, Sunday Adeleye.

In his Sermon, Bishop Egbetakin charged Christians to do the will of God and always renew their strength in God so as not to be weary in their journey of life.

He vowed to continue propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ beyond the shores of the Diocese.

Speaking at the event, the Archbishop of Igbobini Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Olugbenga Fafeyiwa said the creation of Owo Diocese would enhance the strength of the Church to perform its obligation which is Evangelism.

Also, Baba ijo of Methodist Church, Oke Owo Rtd. Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi and the Iya ijo of the Church, Chief Mrs Olabode Elizabeth expressed readiness to work with the Bishop for the Growth and Development of the Diocese.

The Prelate, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba expressed confidence in the Spiritual Strength and the ability of the New Bishop.
