Eid-El-Fitr: Ekiti police warn troublemakers, assure residents on security

As Muslim faithful, in Nigeria join others Muslim globally celebrate this year Eidel-Kabir,  Commissioner of Police in the Ekiti state, Mr Bello Ahmed has warned residents of the state against violence before, during and after the eid-el-kabir celebrations.

The CP in a statement, signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Caleb Ikechukwu, threatened that the police will deal decisively with anybody caught tormenting trouble in the state.

The police boss said massive security will be deployed in all the Muslim praying grounds across the state to ensure safety of lives and property during the Sallah celebration.

This came as the state commands of both Federal Roads Safety Corps, (FRSC) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps called on the residents of  the state to abide by the rules guiding driving on the highways and safety of public utilities and infrastructure respectively.

The police boss said picnics sites and event centres across the state will also be secured to ensure a hitch free celebrations.

He disclosed that state highway and anti crime patrol teams have been deployed along major roads throughout the state to ensure safety of lives and property, including safeguarding travellers, commuters and other road users.

The Commissioner, however warned that all officers and men being deployed are to operate under strict instructions to be civil, polite but firm in carrying out their duties

In the same vein, State Commander of FRSC, Ismaila Kugu that several of his men had been deployed for the celebrations, warning that the command would not take kindly to dangerous driving, overloading, speed-limit violation and driving without necessary documents, including underaged driving.

Also, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), through its Public Relations Officer, (PRO), Tope Afolabi said the command would beam its search light on all public utilities as well as complement other security agencies in preventing all sorts of crime in the state.
