The Federal Government has declared today and monday as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement on behalf of the federal government in Abuja.

Eid-el-Fitr marks the end to the month long Ramadan fast, and the commencement of Shawaal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

As muslims faithful celebrate today, the Olubaka of Oka Akoko, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye has called on Muslim faithful across Nigeria to hold fast to the chord of Allah and be not disunited in praying for a better country where peace, security and development shall reign.

Oba Adeleye made the call in his goodwill message to the muslim faithful on the occasion of this year’s celebration.

He urged them to continue with the spirit of Ramadan and not to forget the spirit of good deeds.

The monarch appealed to Muslims to celebrate moderately based on the mood of the country and continue to pray for smooth transition.

The royal father equally called on people of other religious faiths and all Nigerians to pray fervently for the incoming president, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his administration to be led by God in their day to day running of the affairs of the country so that the country can finally get to the promised land

Meanwhile, preparations were in top gear for the celebration of the important Islamic festival to mark the end of the fasting period based on the sighting of the moon as directed by the Sultan.
