Eid-el-Fitr: Ondo Amotekun deploys 1,000 personnel, begins border patrol

Determined to ensure a safe Eid-el-Fitr celebration and continued peace in the State, the Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps, has deployed 1,000 officers across the 18 local government areas of the state.

State Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye made the disclosure while speaking with The Hope in Akure today. 

Akogun Adeleye who is also the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Secretary Matters, revealed that the 24-hour border patrol has commenced today toward keeping off criminal elements.

“All border towns and control points are going to be adequately manned to prevent people with criminal intents as well as kidnappers from using the festive period to gain entry into the state.

He assured residents of continued and adequate protection of their lives and property before, during and after this festive period. 

He added that the State has reactivated the law restricting Okada operation beyond 6am to 6pm with a view to curtailing the crimes being carried out with the use of Okada which included house breaking.

“The law banning Okada operation beyond 6am-6pm and the Anti-grazing law would be fully implemented as we ensure that we stop those herdsmen from open, underage and night grazing.

“Anyone caught flouting these orders would be prosecuted in the court of law.

“We are also counting on the support of members of the public to furnish us with timely information about any strange and suspicious movement in their neighborhood for immediate response and action.”
