Eid-el-Fitr: Ondo NSCDC deploys 1,000

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State, Mr Olayinka Olatundun yesterday announced the deployment of 1,000 personnel for robust security arrangements for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Recall that the Federal Government on Wednesday declared Friday, April 21 and Monday April 24, 2023 as public holidays to mark the year’s celebration.

According to Olatundun, he said the command has deployed 1,000 tactical squad, motorized patrol team, intelligence gathering mechanism, counter terrorism operatives, disaster management team to respond swiftly to disaster related issues.

He emphasized the need to protect critical national assets and infrastructure of government before, during and after the celebration.

While elucidating on the operational order, the NSCDC boss explained that the deployment plan is aimed at ensuring the safety of the public during religious observance within the State.

He urged the Area Commanders, Divisional officers and tactical heads of units at the State Headquarters to ensure the safety of the people of the state.

“You are to provide maximum security coverage to those who will take part in various religious activities, bearing in mind the need to respect their fundamental human rights and dignity.

“Abuse of their rights will not be tolerated. Therefore, we need to exhibit high level of professionalism in our conduct,” he said.
