A yet-to-be identified man was on Wednesday crushed to death by a truck in Ondo city, Ondo West Local Government area of the state.

Hope Metro gathered that the incident occured around noon at Oke- Igbala junction in Odojomu area, Ondo City.

The deceased who was around 20 years of age was alleged to be riding a lady’s bike recklessly before ramming into a truck which led to his untimely death.

An eyewitness, who identified himself as Dele, said the victim who was on high speed rammed into a moving truck.

He said the truck driver tried his best not to hit the boy on the bike, but the truck did not stop but knocked down the boy on his bike and crushed him to death.

According to Bayo Akinmusire, the boy on bike was on high speed and we don’t know what happened to the boy when he suddenly faced the truck that is coming and the truck driver crushed him because he can no longer control the truck.

Another eyewitness, James, a commercial tricyclist, described the sudden death of the boy as horrific.

James said, “I just dropped a passenger and made a u-turn to the side of the road and saw the boy ran into the truck without anybody chasing him.

“I sighted the boy going towards the coming truck, but before I could call their attention to it, it was too late as the truck was already close to the deceased.

“The driver of the truck also saw him late because he tried to apply the brake but it was not responding. Unfortunately, the driver’s effort was not enough.”

It was learnt that sympathizers later took the remains of the deceased to the mortuary while the truck driver and his co-worker ran away after the incident and the case was reported to the police at Enu- Owa Division in Ondo City.
