Ekiti airport approval, Christmas gift – APC
…hails NCAA
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has described the recent approval of flight operations at the state’s cargo airport by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as a landmark achievement and a fitting Christmas gift for the people of Ekiti.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, the party expressed immense joy over the development and praised Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) for fulfilling a long-standing promise to the state.
The approval, announced on Thursday, 12 December 2024, grants the Ekiti Cargo Airport permission to commence non-scheduled flight operations under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) from 15 December 2024 to 15 June 2025.
According to the NCAA’s letter, dated 11 December 2024 and addressed to Governor Oyebanji, flights will operate between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., allowing planes to land and take off during daylight hours.
“This is a promise made and promise kept, a Christmas gift specially wrapped for all in the state,” Dipe remarked.
“We are very happy and make bold to say that it will serve us well to the delight of all.”
The APC lauded the governor for his determination in seeing the project through despite scepticism and criticisms.
Dipe emphasised that the airport represents not only a bold ambition but also a tangible achievement that will pave the way for future economic growth and development in Ekiti State.
“At this point, it’s not about what has been said, whether wrongly or rightly, about the airport project,” Dipe noted.
“It’s about the achievement. The governor deserves a pass mark for walking his talk and ignoring naysayers.”
He added, “We dreamt big and we have achieved big.
It is today’s achievement for tomorrow’s greatness. No one could have wished for more.”
The approval has been widely celebrated across Ekiti, with many viewing it as a pivotal moment in the state’s history.
The party expressed confidence that the airport would serve as a critical infrastructure, boosting the economy and improving connectivity for residents and businesses alike.
As the state prepares for the commencement of flight operations, the APC reiterated its commitment to supporting Governor Oyebanji’s vision for progress and development, urging all residents to unite in celebrating this milestone achievement.
