Elder statesman and retired Permanent Secretary, Deji Fasuan, has commended the approval granted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the commencement of non-scheduled flights at the Ekiti State International Cargo Airport.

He described it as a major economic boost for surrounding towns and villages.

Speaking duringthe weekend at his residence in Ado Ekiti, Fasuan, who also chaired the Committee for the Creation of Ekiti State, expressed his delight at the milestone.

He highlighted the significant economic benefits the airport will bring to the state, including enhanced infrastructure for neighbouring communities.

He praised the foresight of the immediate past administration for initiating the project and lauded the current government for building on it to reach its current status.

Fasuan specifically acknowledged Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s determination in taking the project further from where his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, left  it.

“The breakthrough recorded in the airport project is another gain the people of Ekiti State have reaped from the continuity they voted for during the last governorship election,” he said.

“I congratulate Governor Oyebanji for the approval secured from the NCAA for the commencement of non-scheduled flights from December 15 at the Ekiti Airport.

The advantages are enormous, not only for flight users but also for neighbouring towns and villages that have benefitted from roads and other modern facilities.

“We hope that in the next few months, the system will incorporate scheduled and regular flights. Today, some roads are springing up connecting villages that were hitherto unconnected.
