Ekiti Amotekun arrests 5 over N2.5m

Operatives of the Western Security Network codenamed Amotekun, Ekiti State Command have arrested five persons suspected to be fraudsters.

Parading the suspects at the office of the corps in Ado-Ekiti,  the Amotekun Corps Commandant, Brigadier Joe Komolafe (rtd) said the suspects  defrauded a victim to the tune of N2.5 million.

He gave the names of the suspects as Johnson Olusola, 44, Olufemi Sunday, 52, Aloba Ojo, 28, Deji Ajayi, 42, and Dayo Emmanuel, 40.

The Amotekun boss said the suspects were arrested at a location in Odo-Oja Ikere-Ekiti, in Ikere local government area of the state.

According to him, the suspects are serial fraudsters who specialsed in duping people around the state called themselves, “Awo Jingini” in local parlance  and claimed to be herbalists.

Komolafe said, “A colleague, from Ogun State Amotekun Commandant,  put a call

to me and informed me that one of the people staying in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was duped by the suspects to the tune of about N2.5million.

“He equally added that the suspects, who are residents of Ikere-Ekiti threatened to kill him. So, he begged  that the Corps to please assist him”

“ Five of them were arrested in their shrines.  We were able to destroy part of the shrines and we were able to bring part of those things they use in deceiving people.

“The victim, Udani James, a farmer  from Benue State, but resides in Ogun State, and a farmer said one of  the fraudsters made a call to him and  started by praying for him in the Christian faith.

James, 40,  that at a time when he revealed that he was  an herbalist,

he told him that he is not interested again, saying,  he was not

interested again.

He  said they threatened that he would be killed, including other members of his family

“The victim,   later came to meet them in Ado-Ekiti, as agreed before they were arrested.”
