The Ekiti State Government has distributed free JAMB e-PINs to 3,000 qualified candidates in the state
The initiative was flagged off by the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to prepare diligently for the examination, strive for excellence and remain focused.
Dr. Oyebanji emphasised that the initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to the educational advancement of young people in Ekiti State.
According to her, “In 2023, the government spent N16,627,000 on 3,000 e-PINs and administrative charges. The cost increased to N20 million in 2024 and N25,800,000 this year.”
She highlighted that education remains the foundation of sustainable development and a key tool for unlocking the potentials of young people.
“Under the visionary leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, we have continued to implement progressive policies to ensure that every child in Ekiti, regardless of background or socio-economic status, has access to quality education.
“We are providing opportunities for our youths to take significant steps towards higher education and meaningful careers,” she stated.
Dr. Oyebanji added that the government believes that no hardworking and talented student should face setbacks due to financial constraints.
She noted that the government has consistently covered WAEC examination fees for SS3 students in public secondary schools, provided running grants to public schools, and invested in teacher capacity building to enhance learning.
Specifically, she revealed that Governor Oyebanji has approved N652,798,300 for the payment of 2025 WAEC examination fees, including administrative charges for 17,859 candidates.
Additionally, N200,785,500 has been allocated for public secondary schools and N127,086,000 for private schools per term for the 2024/2025 academic session.
In their goodwill messages, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, urged the candidates to study hard to excel in their examinations and justify the government’s investment in them.
Similarly, the Acting Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mr. Oluremi Dada, representing the SUBEB Chairman, Prof. Femi Akinyemi, commended the government’s continuous support for students.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity to secure admission into their preferred higher institutions.
