The Ekiti State Government, in collaboration with the National Social Safety Coordinating Office (NASSCO), has commenced the update of its social register for existing households across all Local Government areas of the state.
Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the State Coordinator of State Operation Coordinating Unit (SOCU) Mr. Abiodun Ariyo, stated that the exercise is strictly targeted at households already captured in the current State Social Register.
Ariyo explained that the update aims to align with the Federal Government’s requirements, particularly the integration of National Identification Numbers (NINs) into the database.
The State Coordinator emphasised that the current phase is not for new registration, but for updating information of already enlisted households.
He urged all previously registered households to cooperate with SOCU officials and enumerators when they visit their communities for the exercise.
“The State Social Register is designed specifically for poor and vulnerable citizens and serves as a critical tool for accessing intervention programmes by both the State and Federal Governments,” Mr. Ariyo added.
He appealed to community leaders and relevant stakeholders to mobilise support to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the update exercise.
