The Ekiti State Government has said that philanthropic gestures such as donations of health commodities and medical equipment by public-spirited individuals will further complement the ongoing efforts of the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to enhance healthcare delivery in the state.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, stated this during the donation of a brand new Toyota Sienna Ambulance to the General Hospital, Ijesa-Isu Ekiti, by the Dr Remi Bamisile Health Foundation.
Dr Filani noted that the donation aligned with Governor Oyebanji’s initiative to renovate and equip all healthcare facilities across the state.
While commending Dr Bamisile for the kind gesture, the commissioner called on other capable individuals to emulate the donor, noting that such collaborative efforts would further promote and improve the health and well-being of residents of the state.
In his remarks at the event, the pioneer Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and an indigene of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti, Chief Paul Alabi, said that the gift was not merely a contribution of resources but an investment in the health and well-being of the people.
Chief Alabi commended the donor for such community-driven development and selfless service.
In his address, the donor of the ambulance, Dr Remi Bamisile, said that the presentation, which was done to mark his 70th birthday, represents his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the community and the state at large.
Dr Bamisile noted that the ambulance will greatly enhance the hospital’s emergency response capabilities, as well as ensuring timely medical attention for the residents of the local government and its surroundings.
In their goodwill messages, the Regent of Ijesa-Isu Ekiti, HRM Bolaji Adeniyi; Chairman of the Hospital’s Management Board, Dr Austine Ibikunle; Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Health, the Hospital’s Management Board, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun and Dr Olasunkanmi Alabi, respectively; and the Chairman of the Kajola Local Council Development, Mr Ajayi Adebayo, lauded the donor’s gesture, saying that the presentation was both a commitment to the health sector and humanity.
