T he Counter Terrorism Unit attached to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command, has paraded three suspects, including a young lady, who allegedly specialise in refining and selling substances suspected to be cannabis sativa in Ado-Ekiti.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Tolulope Afolabi, identified the suspects as Agbekeye Ayomide, 22; Oladimeji Akintomiwa, 21; Agbeleye Beulah, 20 and others at large.
Afolabi said they were arrested at Zone 1, Olorunda Adebayo area in Ado-Ekiti metropolis while they were hawking and selling the products.
He said members of the Landlords Association in the area had written a ‘Save Our Soul’ letter to the command about the activities of the drug peddlers in the area.
The association, he added, called on the security agencies in the state to rescue them from the hands of the suspected drug pedlers in the area.
The PPRO said upon receiving the letter, the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Command swung into action, which led to the arrest of the suspects, including a young lady.
Items recovered from the suspects included some wrapped substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, colorado and other materials used in processing the substances into chips.
He explained that the suspects, including the young lady were still in the custody of the NSCDC and helping them on how to arrest other suspects.
He disclosed they would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed on the matter.
