The crisis rocking the Ekiti State chapter of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken another dimension, as the party caucus in the state house of assembly insisted that the Senate Minority Leader, Mrs. Biodun Olujimi remains the leader of the party in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP caucus in the assembly, the Deputy Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewumi Olusegun, during a press conference organised by the members of the caucus, said Senator Olujimi is the most eminent and qualified person to be the leader of the party in the state.

The lawmakers explained that there was no going back on the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) on its call for the dissolution of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party.

Describing the Senate Minority Leader as the highest political office holder presently in the state, observed that those contending the issue of former Governor Ayo Fayose as the leader of the party in the state are only being mischievous, lazy and political jobbers.

Appealing to members of the PDP in the state to unite, and concentrate on the ongoing election petition filed by the party on the July 14 governorship election held in the state, equally urged members to pay more attention to the 2019 general elections rather than pursing divisive agenda.

The PDP caucus while reiterating their commitment towards the success of the party at all time, explained that their supports for the new government in Ekiti state under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Fayemi was at the instance of former Governor Ayodele Fayose who he said directed them to cooperate with the new government in the interest of of Ekiti State.

On the rumour that a member of the State caucus of the party, Dr Tope Aluko has been suspended from the party, the lawmakers said he was  validly elected as the National Delegate for the Porthercourt  Convention, where he actively participated.

“For avoidance of doubt , we want the generality of people to know that Dr. Tope Aluko remained a bonafide member of PDP in Ekiti State and was not at any time expelled from the party.

“However, the forthcoming presidential election should be taken with all seriousness it deserves by Ekiti PDP stakeholders. This can only be achieved by leaders who are open minded, trustworthy, dependable and reliable.

“We appeal to the national body of PDP to save Ekiti State chapter from political vampires. Who are hell bent in positioning their stooges strategically to pocket our political common wealth.

“Conclusively, Ekiti State House of Assembly PDP caucus in view of the financial infractions committed by the Oguntuase-led exco and their directionless attitude. We hereby pass a vote of no confidence on them and support the immediate dissolution of the said exco forthwith.

“The NWC should as a matter of urgency put in place caretaker body to oversee the administration of the party in Ekiti State immediately,” it stated.
