A man identified as Jimoh Abdul Raman has been arrested by the Ekiti State Police command for allegedly assaulting his wife.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, stated that a viral video showed the suspect brutally assaulting his wife.

The statement read”On February 15, 2025, at about 19:00 hours, the Ekiti State Police Command arrested Jimoh Abdul Raman for brutally assaulting his wife, Mrs. Akintunde Bidemi Taiwo, at NOVA area, Ado-Ekiti.

“Following a tip-off and after reviewing the viral video of the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, directed the DPO of Oke-Ila Division to identify and arrest the suspect immediately and commence a thorough investigation.”

Acting on the directive, operatives from Oke-Ila Division swiftly arrested the suspect. The case has been transferred to the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Unit of the State CID for further investigation and prosecution.
