Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a notorious cultist suspected to have been involved in series of cult activities in Ado-Ekiti.
According to the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr Dare Ogundare, gave the name of the suspect as Quadri Ajibola, believed to be a strong member of “Black Axe” secret cult confraternity.
He explained that the suspect before he was arrested by the operative of the Rapid Response Squad had planned to unleash terror on the rival members in Ado-Ekiti and environment.
The Ekiti State Police helmsman said investigation revealed that a faction of the Black Axe had created a group within themselves on the fateful day to commence their killing operation before the notorious cultist was arrested.
He revealed that investigation showed that the group was responsible for the killing operation of eight suspected members of “Eiye confraternity in Ikere-Ekiti sometimes ago, where several members of cult groups were killed.
He explained that the suspect has confessed to be a member of a cult group and his alleged plan to launch an attack on other rival group.
The Commissioner added that when a search was conducted in the house of the suspect, one local drum with inscription of black Axe was recovered .
In a similar development, the command operative also arrested three persons alleged to be members of a robbery syndicate terrorising the residents of Ijadun community in Ado-Ekiti.
The police boss gave their names as Agboola Kayode, Olumodi Túnde and Saliu Kazeem. They were alledged to have attacked one Mayowa Olaofe in her resident in Ado-Ekiti and disposed her of her Infinix phone, cash and other valuable goods.
