Ekiti police arrest two over abduction and sexual assault of teenager

Ekiti State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of two suspects over abduction and sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl.
The victim who was until the incident was a student in one of the public secondary schools in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Sunday Abutu, gave the names of the suspects as Ayomide Jinadu and Miracle Peter, were arrested in two different locations in Ado and Ilawe-Ekiti.
The PPRO said the suspects were arrested by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department attached to the Ado Central Division of Nigeria Police, Ekiti State Command.
According to him, investigation revealed that the victim was on her way to school on a fateful day when the suspects accosted and lured her into their house in Omisanjana where she was kept and sexually harassed for about five days.
The suspects who are currently undergoing investigations were detained at the command investigation department and have made confessional statement to that effect.
“In view of the prevailing incidents of rapes, sexual assaults and other cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV) the Command enjoined parents and guardians to mindful of the movements of their wards and check those they meet and the relationship they keep.
” Victims are also advised to speak out immediately to enable the police to take immediate necessary action”
In a related development, the Ekiti State Police also confirmed the arrest of two persons who specializes in stealing phones.
The suspects whose names were still sketchy at the time of filling this report, were arrested at Fayose market while attempting to sell off three stolen phones.
“During investigation, the suspects confessed that they stole the phones from three different owners at Ifaki-Ekiti. One of the owners was contacted who immediately came to reclaim his phone while effort is ongoing to identify the other owners.
