The Ekiti State Police Command at the weekend confirmed that it has invited three persons for questioning  in connection with the death of a 33-year-old man who was stabbed to death by his neighbour.

Spokesperson for the command, Mr Sunday Abutu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, SSP,  confirmed the development to The Hope Metro on Sunday

He said the three persons; two men  and a woman are currently undergoing interrogation at the Homicide Section  of the command.

Abutu explained that two of the invited persons are neighbours of the principal suspect, while the third person is the wife.

According to him, the trio are currently assisting the police  in the investigation to unravel the cause of the death of the deceased.

Recall The Hope Metro had reported that the 33-year-old man was stabbed to death by his co-tenant at Awedele area of Ado-Ekiti.

Residents of the area told our correspondent that the suspect, an Okada rider and father of two, had engaged in an argument with his wife at the early hour of the day.

According to them, the verbal attack later degenerated into a scuffle between the couple, which  attracted other neighbours to the scene.

It was learnt that the woman was later rescued from the scene and taken to an unknown destination by the neighbours, a development which did not go down well with the husband.

The Hope Metro gathered that the man accused the deceased, who was a  co-tenant of rescuing his wife from the scene, and a quarrel ensued between the duo.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the suspect threatened to kill the deceased, if he failed to bring out his wife from her hideout.

Few minutes later, he was said to have dashed into the kitchen and came out with a knife which he used to stab the 33-year-old man at the chest.

The deceased was reportedly rushed to a private hospital in the area by the neighborhood, where all efforts made by the doctors to revive him proved abortive.

He was later confirmed dead by the doctors.

The incident later attracted more residents to the area, including the family of the deceased who threatened to retaliate the death of the deceased.

It took the quick intervention of the police at the Ekiti State Police Command to save the situation, while residents of the area later handed the suspect over to the police and he was immediately whisked away.
