The Ekiti State government has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering youths through creativity, innovation, and job creation.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration pledged to sustain and fund youth-oriented initiatives while ensuring their active participation in political and governance structures.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Gold Adesola-Adedayo, reiterated this commitment during a one-day leadership training for members of the fourth Ekiti Youth Parliament. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Development, the event focused on ethics, leadership, personal development, and mentorship.

The Osun State Commissioner for Youth Development, Olalekan Olagunju, and notable youth groups also attended.

Adesola-Adedayo described the training as crucial in equipping youths for leadership, governance, and societal development.

He commended the resilience and creativity of the youth parliamentarians, acknowledging their efforts in tackling challenges in their constituencies.

The Commissioner highlighted several youth-focused initiatives under Governor Oyebanji’s administration.

These include: Ekiti Youth in Agriculture Programme, engaging 940 youths in commercial farming, ICT Hub and Ekiti Youth Development Centre for digital skills, Ekiti Garment/Adire Hub to promote textile entrepreneurship, MSMEs Clinic and job opportunities in the civil service, Ekiti Sports Development Programme for youth engagement.

“These programmes have improved youths recognition and reduced poverty. Governor Oyebanji is resolute in funding and expanding these initiatives,” Adesola-Adedayo assured.

He lauded the youth parliamentarians’ collaboration with the government, emphasising their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress.

He urged participants to leverage the training to sharpen their leadership skills, act as effective youth representatives, and foster closer ties between the government and the populace.
