Ekiti set for Fayemi

All is now set for the swearing-in of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as the 12th executive governor of Ekiti State with the state capital, Ado Ekiti wearing a new look and in a festive mood.

Our Correspondents observed that all the major roads like leading into the state capital have received fresh attention while potholes have been filled up in anticipation of visitors being expected in the state capital.

Security personnel have noticeably been on the alert in troubled spots within the state capital while plain clothes policemen are keeping eyes on trouble makers in a bid to make tomorrow events hitch free

The Hope also observed high security presence at the Ekiti Parapo pavilion, venue of the swearing-in ceremony located along new Iyin Road in the state capital.

All vehicles plying the roads were being monitored and scrutinised by armed policemen, State Security Service and Civil Defence.

The Hope observed that civil servants are already in high spirit to welcome Fayemi who has promised to liquidate their outstanding salaries within one year in office.

As part of the inauguration ceremony, The Hope reliably gathered that efforts aimed at making the ceremony a success have been put in place.

The ceremony will kick off in Ado Ekiti today, October 15 2018 with lecture, book presentation and award of prizes to winners of the John Kayode Fayemi (JKF) Inauguration Essay Competition

The ceremony will continue tomorrow with the official presentation of the instrument of office to the Governor-elect by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola. The ceremony will be held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, located along new Iyin Road in the state capital.

The inauguration ceremony will continue on Wednesday October 17, with a Town Hall meeting in Ekiti North Senatorial District which will be held at Odo Udo Primary School grounds, Ido-Ekiti, while on the same day, Ekiti South Senatorial Town Hall meeting will hold at Ereja park, Ikere-Ekiti.

The event will be followed with an inter-faith thanksgiving service on Thursday morning, in Ado-Ekiti, to be followed by Ekiti Central Senatorial District Town Hall meeting in the afternoon at Aramoko Motor Park, Aramoko-Ekiti.

On Friday, there will be Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Ado-Ekiti, while on Saturday October 20, Ekiti Arts, Culture and Talent Fair holds at Ekitiparapo Pavilion at Ado-Ekiti.

The ceremony will be rounded up with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, October 21, at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral Church, Old Motor Park, Ado -Ekiti, while a civic reception will take place at the Eyitayo Lodge, Isan-Ekiti country home of the new Governor.

When The Hope visited the campaign office of the Governor-elect, located at Ajilosun road Ado-Ekiti, Fayemi was sighted holding meetings with political associates and numerous well wishers before dashing out to Abuja last Friday.

Already, several streets in Ado-Ekiti like, Okeyimi, Ajilosu, Odo-Ado, Adebayo, Polly road, Iyin road and others now wear new looks as officials of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board were seen clearing and cleaning the streets in preparation for the reception of eminent personalities from across the country who are expected to throng the state during the inauguration ceremony.

Similarly, roads leading to the state capital, Ado-Ekiti were cleared ahead of the inauguration. Some indigenes of the town were also seen partaking in the cleaning exercise. Besides, politicians were seen holding several meetings and deliberations in order to make the inauguration a successful one.

The Hope also reliably gathered that as part of efforts aimed at making the ceremony a colourful one, several committees have been constituted among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the palace of the Onisan, the home town of the Governor-elect, preparations were in top gear to ensure that the entire Isan community troop out to accord their son a colouful inauguration ceremony. According to information from a competent source in the palace of the first class monarch, Oba Adams Babalola.

When our correspondent went round the town, Environmental Officers from Oye Local Government and some youths, believed to be indigenes of the community were seen cleaning the areas ahead of the ceremony.

Again, several bill boards with the picture of the Governor-elect have been mounted at strategic locations in the town, heralding the inauguration ceremony, while some of the major streets now bear new name plates.

Similarly, the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Church, Ado-Ekiti, now wears a new look as several decorative flowers have been mounted at strategic locations within the church premises. Also inside the church itself, a similar situation was observed.

Meanwhile, enthusiastic reactions have continued to trail the preparations for the coming inauguration ceremony as gathered from the people of Ekiti State.

In his own comment, a frontline politician and a community leader in Ado-Ekiti, Revd. Joshua Adesemoye, described the scheduled inauguration ceremony as another milestone in the history of Ekiti State since it was created in the year 1996.

The octogenarian who expressed his joy over the development and called on the people of the state to key into the vision of the Governor-elect, also stressed the need for them to continue to support him in his bid to move the state to an enviable position.

Similarly, a physically challenged youth leader, who gave his name as Olakanmi Olanrewaju , said “It is a great achievement to have Dr. Kayode Fayemi back in power as Governor of Ekiti State. I have no doubt in mind that the Governor would perform better and the social and economic development of the state
