Pandemonium broke out on Tuesday at the Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Usi-Ekiti, following a protest embarked upon by students to express grievances over the sudden invasion of their hostel by bedbugs.
The students of the Federal Government-owned school also took to the street to displayed grievances over the transfer of about 42 teachers in the school.
According to an eyewitness, students of the technical secondary college established in 2002 by the federal government have been loitering around the school premises due to the alleged unavailability of teachers.
Speaking on the protest, a parent, who doesn’t want her name mentioned, expressed displeasure over what she called unhealthy condition of the hostel which, according to her has been infested with bedbugs.
While calling on the relevant authorities to intervene in the condition of the school, she demanded that teachers be reposted to the school for academic activities to resume.
According to her; “When I visited the school for open day,, l saw one bedbug on my son body, being a new student in the hostel, he could not identify it. They were moving together joyfully. The school authority should please do something about it.”
As at the time of filing in this report, efforts to reach the school authorities to speak on the matter proved abortive.
