The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, (EKSU), Professor Olubunmi Ajayi, has threatened to withdraw the studentship of any student who fails to pay school fees before the end of the on-going 2018/2019 academic session in the institution.
Ajayi handed down the warning at the weekend while administering matriculation oath on the 7,664 new students of the institution .
The Acting VC who congratulated the fresh students on the occasion of their matriculation, admonished them to see their admission as a great opportunity, noting that out of the total of 15, 348 candidates that applied for admission through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) into the University, only 7,664 were successful.
The EKSU helmsman therefore charged them to ensure prompt payment of their fees and be duly registered in their various faculties, adding that the institution had put in place a task force to enforce strict compliance on the payment of all levies accrued to them.
Henceforth, the management of this University would no longer accommodate fee defaulters and failure to pay up on time could lead to loss of studentship”.
He also urged the new students to be wary of scammers, who may want to hide under the pretence of rendering assistance to them to dupe them of their money and possessions.
The Acting Vice Chancellor stressed that it is mandatory for them to attend lectures regularly because the University would continue to enforce 70% attendance for any student to be eligible to sit for examinations.
Ajayi further emphasized the need for them to avoid membership of unregistered societies and to abide by all the rules and regulations of the institution in order to avoid being suspended or expelled.
The highpoint of the programme was the presentation of the students from various faculties by the Deans.
