Following the  postponement of last Saturday’s general elections, the Ondo State Police Command has directed its men posted across the 18 local government areas of the state for the election  to remain in their duty posts to provide security till the rescheduled date of the election on Saturday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph, who spoke with The Hope in an interview said the  initial security arrangement put in place for the elections still remain as policemen earlier posted to various duty posts across the 18 local government areas of the state would be  there till Saturday , February 23 when the elections will hold.

The police spokesman  who urged the general public to disregard the rumour that the postponement of elections have created security threat in the state, said there are adequate security personnel and logistics that are capable of curbing any challenge that might arise before, during and after the general elections.

Joseph hinted that all  the rank and file of the force have been directed by the State Police Commissioner, Mr Undie Adie to remain in their duty posts to protect the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) materials and  personnel, while all senior officers will have to return to their various places of  primary assignment before going back to supervise Saturday’s elections.

“Our men on elections duty, especially rank and file will remain there till after the elections coming up on Saturday. There is nothing for anybody to worry about. Security is on ground. Our men are patrolling everywhere. All we ask from the people is to give us useful information that will help nip crime in the bud.
